Objective To investigate effects of Coptis-Evodia herb couple on the expression of HMG-CoA, Liver fatty acid binding protein (L-FABP), lipoproteinlipase(LPL) gene in the liver of hyperlipidemia rats. Methods Hyperlipidemia rats induced by fat emulsion, meanwhile TC, TG, LDL and HDL in serum were measured by the enzymatic method.Additionally the expression of HMG-CoA, L-FABP and LPL gene in liver tissues were detected by real-time PCR.Results the levels of TC, TG and LDL in serum of model group were significantly higher than the control group.Compared with model control group, Coptis-Evodia herb couple could reduce the levels of indicators above all, which revealed a statistical significance (P<0.05).Additionally the expression of HMG-CoA, L-FABP and LPL gene in livers of model control group were 20.7,6.33 and 8.13 times respectively as higher as that of the control group, which were notably decreased by 3-47 times after administration of Coptis-Evodia herb couple compared with model control group. Conclusion Coptis-Evodia herb couple had a definite role in lowering blood lipid levels in hyperlipidemic rats, the mechanism of which is associated with the inhibition of HMG-CoA, L-FABP and LPL gene expression.Inhibiting the endogenous synthesis of cholesterol, promoting the uptake of fatty acids and transport clear are the main aspects of lowering blood lipid levels.
