Background The success rate of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for chronic total coronary occlusion (CTO)lesions varies depending on the guidewire manipulation skills of the operator. The standardization of guidewire technique is very important. In comparison of traditional guidewire technique, a new guidewire technique ("improved seesaw-wiring") was tested to verify effectiveness for higher initial success rates of PCI for CTO.
