  Objective Radiation pneumonitis(RP)has long been well-known complication of patients undergoing thoracic radiation,which can lead to chronic respiratory insufficiency and seriously affect patients quality of life.In some cases,severe acute radiation pneumonitis(SARP)usually occurring at the first three months after radiotherapy(RT)can result in poor prognosis and even death.Therefore,the accurate prediction of SARP is essential for esophageal cancer(EC)patients to facilitate individualized radiation dosing and lead to maximized therapeutic gain.As we all known,RP was an inflammatory response to radiation injury.However,the application of the inflammation-based indexes including platelet-lymphocyte ratio(PLR),neutrophilslymphocyte ratio(NLR),lymphocyte-monocyte ratio(LMR)and systemic immune-inflammation index(SII)as predictive biomarkers of RP has not been evaluated yet.Additionally,accurate models for RP prediction were still lacking and the current risk assessment typically relied on dosimetric parameters.
