Personalized medicine aims to deliver the right medicine to the right patient at the right dose at the right time,thus minimizing adverse drug reactions and maximizing drug efficacy.Realization of personalized medicine depends on reliable and reproducible tools of genomics and bioinformatics for accurately characterizing patients at the genome scale.The Micro Array and Sequencing Quality Control(MAQC/SEQC)project is a community-wide effort launched by the US FDA to address concerns about the reliability of microarrays and next-generation sequencing(http://www.fda.gov/Science Research/Bioinformatics Tools/Microarray Quality Control Project/).The MAQC/SEQC project is expected to enhance our capabilities of understanding and predicting drug efficacy and serious adverse drug reactions by large-scale simulation and prediction of drug-protein interactions incorporating patient-specific genomic information,thus promoting and protecting public health.
