Background Fulminant myocarditis and acute myocardial infarction are the most hazardous status among cardiovascular diseases, which usually lead to acute cardiac pump failure.Patients had so high a risk of death because of lacking effective cardiac-pulmonary circulation support in the past.Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is a kind of Cardiac-pulmonary circulation assistant device, which provides effective cardiac-pulmonary support and allows heart and lung to have enough time for their recovery. At present, ECMO is used as a common cardiac-pulmonary support device for pediatric diseases. In this paper, we share our experiences of the utilization of ECMO in adult patients complicated with acute cardiac pump failure and their clinical outcome.
