In existing work,the minimum symbol error rate (MSER) receiver usually is derived based on the error probability function that involves complicate computation,in this paper we instead derive the objective function from the upper bound of the error probability.The resulting objective function has simple formulation.Moreover,we prove the resulting objective function is convex,and therefore there exists unique optimal solution,which can be efficient solved by Newton-type method.Simulation result based on QPSK sources shows the proposed algorithm achieve faster convergence speed than existing work.It converges within 10 iterations.
