In very rare cases, a primary infection of abdominal aortic aneurysm (IAAA) is caused by Brucella. In this paper, we have described such a case that was successfully treated with a novel approach. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first Chinese case in which an infection of the abdominal aortic aneurysm was caused by Brucella.A similar case was reported for the first time in Korea. The clinical findings included high fever, fatigue, and abdominal pain. The diagnosis was confirmed by performing computed tomography angiography (CTA).Moreover, we also isolated the bacteriologic specimens from the patients blood culture. The patient was treated by endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR).Thereafter, he was prescribed Brucellasensitive antibiotics for 6 weeks after the operation.During the 10-month follow-up period, the patient remained uneventful. Our case study supports the premise that EVAR is an appropriate alternative strategy to treat IAAA caused by bacteria, such as Brucella.
