Chemical looping gasification(CLG)is viewed as a novel gasification technology because gas phase oxygen of gasifying medium can be replaced by lattice oxygen of oxygen carrier.The good contact of gas-solid two phases facilitates to enhance the reactivity between the gas and liquid products of biomass pyrolysis and oxygen carrier in the process of biomass CLG.However,the reactivity of char of biomass pyrolysis with oxygen carrier is inhibited because the inadequate contact of solid-solid two phases goes against the reducing media diffusing into the core of oxygen carrier.In the previous work,the feasibility of char with NiO-modified oxygen carrier under inert atmosphere was investigated and high temperature(≥1200°C)was required to achieve high reaction rate due to the absence of weak oxidation agents(i.e.CO2 and H2O).However,a large amount of CO2 and H2O as the intermediates is presented during the process of biomass CLG.Hence,the objective of the study is to investigate the reactivity of char with Fe2O3 oxygen carrier under various reaction atmospheres.
