Along with the fast development of Chinas urbanization process and peoples lifestyle change,the growth of recreational space in China shows its inevitable trend.The recreational vehicle (RV) park,as a new type of recreational space,has been paid much attention.This paper takes a study on the design methods of RV parks by using the theory of environmental behavior.Dalian Golden Pebble Beach Recreation Vehicle Park,as a study case,was investigated.Four methods —behavior observation,site recording,interview,and questionnaire,were adopted to explore the relationship between recreational activities and environmental capability.As a result,the paper provides a solid foundation,which can be used to create an environment-oriented recreational space and therefore improve the quality of peoples life.In the design of recreational spaces,such as Golden Pebble Beach RV Park,attention has to be Paid not only to the analysis of natural resources and functional facilities but also to the investigation of the recreationistsdemand.Since campgrounds usually situate in the areas with beautiful natural landscape,it is necessary for a designer to have a fully understanding of the purpose of his/her design and to have responsibility for creating a new life style for people and protecting the environment.Only by keeping studying the environmental behavior,it is possible to build a healthy,sustained and animating RV park which can satisfy the recreationists.
