The range hood is used extensively in kitchen for maintaining air quality and preventing oil and smoke pollution.Filter is an important replacement component which influences range hood smoke exhaust effect.Most of range hood filters on the market are expendable,disposable and does not have to be washed.However,when filter adhere too much oil will reduce range hood exhaust capacity and capture capability due to have not change periodically for inconvenience or other factors.This study aims to investigate the effect of filters on the performance of range hood.Range hood volume flow rate and air pressure is tested according to AMCA testing standard with different types of filter are mounted.The results show that the conical type range hood filter has the minimum effect on the performance of range hood,double layer range hood filter has greater effect,and the cotton filter has the maximum effect on the performance of range hood.
