The paper illustrates the implementation of variations on a procedure developed by Ghosn and Sivakumar (Ghosn and Sivakumar 2010,NCHRP 2011) to estimate the maximum expected load effect on a highway bridge. The procedure explains how site-specific Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) truck weight and traffic data can be used to obtain estimates of the maximum live load for the service life of a bridge.
