Background:Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is a glycoprotein, which is widely used as biomarker for clinical detection of colon tumor. However, the specificity of CEA protein is limited for tumor diagnose.Recently, changes for glycosylation pattern of proteins are now recognized as characteristic of malignant transformation, tumor progression, and metastasis for cancer cells of many types. The profiling of CEA glycosylation pattern will provide additional information for colon tumor detection. Therefore, the aim of this study was to analyze the differential expression of the CEA glycosylation patterns in tumor and non-tumor tissues of colon cancer patients using lectin microarray.
