Our lab aims at increase the understanding of the optical, structural and electronic properties of different carbon nanostructures such as carbon nanofibres, fullerenes, carbon nanotubes and graphene etc.Various metallic and nonmetallic catalysts utilizing in fuel cell and biofuel cell were studied, for example, helical carbon nanofibres (HCNF) and high purity aligned nitrogen doped multi walled carbon nanotubes (NCNT) were synthesized by the catalytic chemical vapor deposition method and then the X-HCNF and X-NCNT (X=Pd, Au) nanocomposites were prepared by wet chemical methods in solution.The as-prepared materials were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray Diffraction (XRD) etc.The Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and Chrono amperometry were carried out to investigate and optimize the catalytic performance for oxygen, formic acid, methanol, ethanol and glucose in alkaline electrolytes.
