Membrane based technologies are widely used in wastewater and drinking water applications andwill further expand its position in water treatment technologies in the future.Different types of membranes,such as microfiltration (MF),ultrafltration (UF),nanofiltration (NF) and reverse osmosis (RO),are increasingly being deployed individually or in combination (hybrid system),in order to accomplish treatment objectives and production of drinking water from different sources.Pre-treatment plays an important role,as the core membrane process is strongly determined by the way the inflow is treated upfront.
