Iran compasses a major portion of the Persian Plateau and due to its vast area and diverse climate, is native region to many fruits.Thus, many remaining cultivars or species of these fruits are enormously valuable genetic resources today and can be used in breeding programs through modem genomics and genetic technologies.Iran is one of the most important apple producers and also enjoys a very large diversity of genetic resources of this crop worldwide.
