Effects of Slurry Pack Cementation Temperature on Microstructure and Wear Resistance of Ti-Al Coatin

  Using electrodeposition combined with slurry pack cementation, with TiO2 as titanizing source, pure Al powder as reducer, electroplated specimens with a layer of electroplating nickel originally deposited on copper were titanized to prepare Ti-Al coating.The effect of slurry pack cementation temperature on the microstructures and wear resistance of Ti-Al coating were studied.The surface morphology and structure of coating were examined by means of SEM and XRD.The results show that the microstructure of the coating changed from NiAl +Ni3(Ti,Al)to NiAl +Ni3(Ti,Al)+Ni4Ti3 to Ni4Ti3+NiAl, and to NiAl +Ni3(Ti,Al)+NiTi with slurry pack cementation temperature range of 800~950℃ for 12 h.the coefficient of friction of Ti-Al coating decreased with the increase of slurry pack cementation temperature, and the minmium value is about 1/5 that of pure copper.
