The development of efficient and sustainable methods for the synthesis of benzofused sulfur-containing heterocycles is an important task in contemporary catalysis research because of the central role of this class of compounds in natural products and pharmaceutical applications.1 Benzo[b]thiophenes are commonly found in various pharmaceuticals and possess a wide range of bioactive properties,such as the selective estrogen receptor modulators(Raloxifene),2 maintenance treatment of asthma(Zileuton),3 arzoxifene,4 and materials etc.5 Despite the existence of numerous techniques for the synthesis and derivatization of benzo[b]thiophenes derivatives,the development of novel,more efficient methods is still very important.
