Na+ reabsorption in renal collecting ducts is one of the key factors regulating extracellular fluid volume and blood pressure. The rate-limiting step in transepithelial Na+ reabsorption in principal cells of renal collecting duct is the apical entry step mediated by epithelial Na+ channels (ENaC).Aldosterone is well known to elevate ENaC synthesis.
