Nearly two million people die annually from tuberculosis,an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis.Recently the rise of antibiotic-resistant infections caused by MDR-and XDR-TB(multidrug resistant and extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis) has been recognized as a serious public health threat,and new antibiotics or new strategies to tackle this problem are urgently required.
