Objective To elucidate the influence of body weight on proximal femur strength in Chinese postmenopausal women.Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted in 1,371 healthy Chinese postmenopausal women recruited from the communities of Guangzhou,China.DXA images were used to generate bone mineral density (BMD) and bone geometry parameters,including cross-sectional area (CSA),outer diameter (OD),cortical thickness (CT),section modulus (SM),and buckling ratio (BR) at the narrow neck (NN),intertrochanter (IT),femoral shaft (FS).ANCOVAs were performed to compare the differences of bone phenotypes among different body mass index (BMI) subgroups.The determination of BMI on bone phenotypes were examined by linear regression analyses.
