In this paper, we present a microfluidic filter which is a second-order RC low-pass filter to eliminate the pulsatile component within microfluidic devices.Computational fluid dynamics simulations are carried out to evaluate the analytical method.Compared with the results obtained from the equivalent circuit theory, the simulation method has been verified.In addition, the equivalent circuit theory (ECT).in other words, the fluid dynamical equivalent of Ohms law, defines the relationship between current, resistance and voltage that are analogues to flow rate, hydraulic resistance and pressure drop, respectively.This microfluidic filter is equipped with multiple simple channels and micro-cavities having elastic membrane at the top layer, just like the series-parallel connection of resistors and capacitors.The combined application of microfluidics community and ECT will gain insightful ideas and practical design methods for developing unique microfluidic devices to address a broad range of lab-on-a-chip challenge.
