In planta trials conducted in our lab with the endophytic actinomycetes as bio-control agents has proven that up-regulation of plant defense pathway leading to the Induced Systemic Resistance (ISR) is one of the main mechanisms of bio-control against plant pathogens [1].There is a growing interest in identifying "ISR inducing" secondary metabolites produced from the endophytic actinomycetes as this will enable selection of the endophytic actinomycetes for bio-control against plant pathogens.
