Natural BH3-memitic (-)-gossypol ((-)-Gos) shows promising antitumor efficacy in severalkinds of cancers, but it induces protective autophagy in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)cells, which leads to drug resistance.In the present study, we for the first time demonstratedthat Hsp90 inhibitor 17-AAG enhanced (-)-Gos-induced apoptosis via suppressing(-)-Gostriggered protective autophagy and Mcl-1 accumulation.
