  By using Eriochrome Cyanine R (ECR) modified anion-exchange resin as SPE cartridge coupled with ICP-AES detection, a novel method for determining Al fractionation in soil extracts has been developed.It possesses the distinct advantages: (1) Good selectivity.The ECR modified SPE shows good recognizing ability for A1 fractions.The total monomeric Ala can be adsorbed on the modified resin in the pH range of 6~10 by column procedure and the organic monomeric Alo can be determined by batch procedure rapidly while no adsorption of inorganic monomeric Ali was found in 30 min at least.Thus Ali can be obtained by the subtraction of Alo-Ala.
