Engineered nanoparticles have found wide-spread application in technology and medicine,e.g.,for targeted delivery of pharmaceuticals to particular cells.In recent years,however,concerns have been voiced that nanoparticles could be hazardous to human health because they are of similar size as the elementary building blocks of cells and may interfere with key cellular processes.
