Background & Aims: Imbalance between neutrophil elastase (NE) and its inhibitor α 1-antitrypsin (A1AT)contributed to insulin resistance and the development of obesity related inflammation.This study was aim to investigate the role of NE-AIAT system in the histological progress of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), and to evaluate the predictive performance of NE-A1AT system for nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).
