Objective: Large-conductance Ca2+-activated potassium channels (BKCa) are widely expressed in central neuron system, including those in the cortex.BKCa channel activation is critical for shaping action potentials (APs) by substantially contributing to their repolarization and fast after-hyperpolarization.Overall, the BKCa channels can regulate firing rates and play a crucial role in the neuronal circuitry in many types of neurons. The functional role of the BKCa current has been demonstrated in circadian behavioural rhythms, hippocampus-dependent learning, epilepsy, the vestibular-ocular reflex and extinction of fear conditioning. As we all know that during prolonged exhaustion exercise, although the brain increase glucose utilization as an energy source, the brain glycogen decreases and the neurons activation declines.
