Pollen tubes and pathogenic fungal hyphae both are tip-growing cells that can invade pistils and host plant tissues respectively.Using tomato pollen tubes and the wheat head blight pathogen Fusarium graminearum as model systems, we recently made progresses in elucidating mechanisms underlying intercellular signaling and cellular actions between tip growing cells and their surrounding cells.
