In modem China,Popularization of higher education has realized educational enrolment equality,which has alleviated the inequality in higher education caused by social class.The article first briefly introduces the achievements of Chinese higher education in realizing educational enrolment equality in popularization stage by analyzing the number of higher institutions and gross enrolment rate.Secondly,it mirrors the quality drawbacks that Chinese higher institutions are of homogeneity and inadequately perform on three essential functions of talent cultivation,scientific research and social service.Thirdly,it discusses that diversity and selectivity are essential to form higher educational quality through the perspective of ecosystem in higher education.Lastly,the article points out that it is rational for higher institutions to form their strengths to attract students,utilize proper assessment,elimination system to motivate teachers and establish transfer system to improve the performance of students.
