Objective: To identify nasal soft tissue changes occur after Le Fort I osteotomy and prospectively compare the efficacy of three surgical techniques for controlling nasal width after Le Fort I osteotomy. Methods: 45patients (14males and 3 lfemales, with mean age of 22.6±2.8years), who had received Le Fort I osteotomy at Peking University Hospital of Stomatology from 2011 to2013 were included. They were randomly divided into three groups. The control group received traditional intraoral alar base cinch suture (ABCS); the experimental groupl received extraoral ABCS, and the experimental group2 received additional intraoral suture of the soft tissue of G.lat on the basic of traditional method. All patients had taken 3D-photos using 3dMD camera before operation, and 3, 6 months after operation. The pre-and postoperative nasal measurements, whose main indicators were distances of Sbal-Sbal,G.lat-G.lat and A1-A1 in 3D photos, were recorded by a single examiner three times with a time-interval of one week. The difference between three groups was statistically analyzed by using SPSS 13.0.
