Polymer matrix composites were developed by reinforcing basalt fiber and carbon fiber wrapped around the cylindrical component surface evenly using the hand layup technique at room temperature.This study describes the effect of two winding way on mechanical properties of Polymer matrix composites,and the comparison of two kinds of fibers on the mechanical properties of Polymer matrix composites.The objective of this investigation was to study the application of basalt fiber and carbon fiber on repairing damaged components.Such as this method can be used in engineering application and protection of cultural relics,in which some damaged components can not be replaced by overall.In this investigation the specimens with two kinds of cross ways(X type,+type) was made,the bending strength and the compression strength of various specimens were calculated using a computer-assisted universal testing machine.The result of the investigation shows that the cross way of + type has greater advantages in bending strength,the strength of the specimens with carbon fiber increased by 48.7 %,the strength of the specimens with basalt fiber increased by 22.8 %.In compression strength the cross way of X type has greater advantages,the strength of the specimens with carbon fiber increased by 155.8 %,the strength of the specimens with basalt fiber increased by 135.5 %.
