Visible lightharvesting transition metal complexes with long-lived triplet excited states are interesting due to the applications in molecular sensor, photocatalysis and photovoltaics, etc, and we have been interested in these complexes for a while[1-2] However, usually the conventional transition metal complexes show weak absorption in visible range and short triplet excited states.[1] Herein we design a cyclometalated Ir(Ⅲ) complex (Ir-1,Fig.1) that shows long-lived triplet excited states.Ir-1 shows long-lived triplet excited states (τT =56.0 μs in deaerated toluene),vs.the short T1 state lifetime of Ir-0 (τT =0.29 μs).
