Post-stroke depression (PSD) is a secondary depression,modern medicine considered that its pathogenesis include two doctrines,which are primary endogenous theory and reaction mechanisms.Traditional Chinese Medicine considered that the disease,ssyndrome belongs to root deficiency and manifestation excess,intermingled deficiency and excess.It closely related to stagnation of liver qi,deficiency of vital qi and static blood with phlegm.Nowadays,TCM therapy of PSD include treatment based on syndrome differentiation,the use of classical prescriptions,treatment integrative TCM and western medicine and acupuncture.TCM therapy have some advantage,such as significant effects,individual treatment,multiple method,security and less adverse reactions.However,there a e some problems such as no uniform standards about TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment,lack of large-scale RCT clinical study reports,no clear understanding about active ingredients of Chinese herbal formula and action mechanism,drug effect,action target and so on.In the future,RCT clinical studies should be done,standardization of TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment should be done,the basic research of Chinese herbal formula mechanism should be done.
