  There are many challenges in the field of water and wastewater treatment in China: (1) The environmental standards have been becoming more and more strict;(2) huge amount of wastewater was discharged into natural water systems each year;(3) many toxic chemicals, such as pesticides, persistent organic pollutants (POPs), PPCPs,and other persistent toxic substances (PTS) were detected in aquatic systems.
