A series novel biodegradable flocculants composed of Gum ghatti and acrylamide-co-methacrylic acid using potassium persulphate-ascorbic acid redox pair as an initiator and N,N’-methylene-bis-acrylamide as a crosslinking agent was prepared under the influence of microwave radiations.Characterization of the synthesized superabsorbent was done using FTIR,SEM and TGA/DTA/DTG.Superabsorbents were found to be thermally more stable than Gum ghatti.
