  GSK-3β (Glycogen synthase kinase-3 beta) and CDK5 (Cyclin dependent kinases 5) are both serine/threonine kinases playing key roles in a large number of cellular processes.The both kinases are highly expressed in the brain and are linked to a variety of CNS disease states,such as Alzheimers Disease (AD).They are key targets for inhibition of tau hyperphosphorylation,which is a viable therapeutic strategy for AD.Recently,multi-target therapeutics can be more efficacious making the biological system more sensitive to the action of a drug with two or more targets simultaneously,thereby,mitigating the redundancy effect.Indirubin is the active ingredient of Danggui Longhui Wan,a mixture of plants that is used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat chronic diseases.
