Nanofiber electrode that is fabricated by electro-spinning technique in the cathode of a proton membrane exchangefuel cell(PEMFC)significantly decreases the noble metal catalyst loading as well as keepsits high power output.When the catalyst loading is 0.2mg cm-2,the maximum power density of the nanofiber electrode 680 mw cm-2(H2-Air),which is slightly higher than the conventional decal electrode with a 0.54 mgcm-2 catalyst loading.When the catalyst loading is as low as 0.056mg cm-2,the maximum power density can arrive 561mw cm-2(H2-Air).Cyclic voltammetry indicates that the electrochemical surface area of the nanofiber electrode is higher than the conventional decal electrode.Andmercury injection test proves that the nanofiber electrode has a better pore structure,which is beneficial for decreasing the mass transportationpolarization.
