Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF) is the first 3rd generation synchrotron radiation source in mainland China.The research on protein structures is one of its major scientific focuses.One dedicated beamline for high performance protein crystallography has been built and was open to users since May of 2009.It has attracted many users both from academic communities and pharmaceutical companies to carry out their experiments on protein structures and tens of new structures have been solved so far.Besides the protein crystallography beamline, there is also a small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) beamline which can be used partly for the structural studies of proteins in solution.
