Adlay (the seeds of Coix lacryma-jobi L.var.ma-yuen Stapf), a grass crop that has long been used as a nourishing food in traditional Chinese medicine, has proven activity in reducing the risk of cancer.To compare the content and cytotoxicity against the lung carcinoma cell line SPC-A-1 and A549 of active constitutents in adlay from five origins (Hebei, Liaoning, Fujian,Guizhou, Shandong), high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was employed to determine the content of triglyceride and the total triglycerides in different origins.
