The proto-oncogene c-Myc,a 65-kDa nuclear phosphoro-protein,is a central regulator of cellular proliferation and cell growth.The aberrant overexpression of the c-Myc gene is associated with the progression of many cancers,including carcinomas of the breast,colon,and cervix,as well as small-cell lung cancer,osteosarcomas,glioblastomas,and myeloid leukemias1.So,c-Myc has emerged as an attractive target for anti-cancer therapeutic agents.
