Turkey is the leading country with 795.000 tons/year of fresh apricot production in total world production of about 3.9 million tons.Half of the 16 million apricot trees in Turkey are exist in Malatya and the number is increasing every year.Malatya is the biggest dried apricot export center for Turkey as 80-85%of worlds dried apricots are exported from the city.So,it would not be wrong to say Malatya is the capital of dried apricots in the world.
