  Low detection limit of biomarkers in blood are of great importance for the early diagnosis of cancer.The capture of liver cancer marker (α-fetoprotein, AFP) by its monoclonal antibody labeled with dye molecules is observed on glass using fluorescence microscope, indicating that the AFP biomarkers are kept intact and alive when transferred from solution to 2D surfaces.However, the low quantum yield of the dye molecules on bare glass makes it rather difficult to reach very low detection limit.
