  Digital microfluidics(DMF)based on electrowetting on dielectric(EWOD)has become a modern paradigm for Lab-on-a-chip(LOC)or micro-total-analysis-system(μTAS)applications,as it offers advantages of portability,automation,high throughput and remote controllability1-3.One of the key challenges for DMF device application for μTAS is how to achieve intelligent and automated driving and control system4.In this work,we report an automatic fluidic protocol integrated with a feedback controller being capable of locating,judging and controlling individual droplet independent of liquid composition.The experimental setup consists of a computer,a power source,a sensor box,a driving box,a digital microfluidic device(DMFD),and a microscope equipped with a digital camera.The experimental setup schematic for simultaneously measuring electrode capacitance and driving droplet position is exhibited in Fig.1a.The whole experimental system is divided into two core sub-systems: the driving box(Fig.1b)and the sensor box(Fig.1c).As the center of logical controlling and data analysis,the driving box completes the driving control and logical calculation of the DMFD.
