Inhibition of anomalous aggregation of tau protein would be an attractive therapeutic target for Alzheimers disease (AD).Compared with β-amyloid, the lack of aromatic residues on the tau peptide chain limits its potential for hydrophobic interactions with inhibitors.Instead, hydrogen bonding or hydrophilicity has been shown to play a crucial role for tau aggregation inhibitors.
