Oxygen molecules(O2)in discharge plasmas can be decomposed to oxygen atoms (O)that combine with O2 and H2O to form ozone(O3)and OH radicals.O,O2,O3 and OH are widely used to remove harmful hydrocarbons and carbons by so-called plasma-driven oxidations,where hydrocarbons and carbons react with O,O2,O3 and OH to give H2O,CO and CO2.In this paper,a review on the oxidations of diesel particulate matter(PM,the main component is carbon)in exhaust gases from diesel engines is given.
