The reclamation and reuse of wastewater is a feasible way to relieve the shortage of freshwater resource. However, the safety of reclaimed water quality is one of the hottest issues, because a large quantity of toxic chemical pollutants possibly remain in reclaimed water due to the limited removal efficiency in traditional reclamation processes. A joint biological toxicity effect may occur among the co-existing multiple contaminants in water. Therefore, it is feasible to measure the integrated biological effects of pollutans as a whole by using bioassay.
