Hollow silica micro-/nano-spheres with hollow core and functional silica shell has attracted much attention for molecular imaging and chemotherapy applications.A series of HSNSs with sizes of 100, 200 and 400 nm were synthesized via the hard-template protocol by coating silica shell on the polystyrene (PS) template and then scarified the PS core.
