This symposium is aimed to address the role of social theories regarding suicide and practices in suicide prevention via presentations by five social scientists and two NGO leaders.The topics to be addressed include suicide and suicide prevention among elders in urban China, suicide and family justice, suicide and customary law in rural China, suicide and suicide prevention among rural women as well as suicide ideations among Chinese youth.
