The effects of temperature on mechanical properties of translucent alumina were investigated. The flexural strength of translucent alumina increased slightly at the cryogenic temperature.Comparing the flexural strength of 92%with that of 99%alumina,the results suggest that glass phase had no significant influence on flexural strength.Additionally, the SENB fracture toughness of translucent alumina increased as the test temperature decreased.Considering the fracture toughness of 92%and 99%alumina which contained different content of glass phase,it would be certified that the existence of glass phase would deteriorate the fracture toughness.
