Ethnopharmacological relevance: Eucommia ulmoides Oliv.(Family Eucommiaceae),precious tree native to China,which is the sole species of the genus Eucommia.This plant has been mainly used as traditional Chinese medicine to treat hypertension,hyperlipemia,osteoporosis,rheumatoid arthritis,etc.It is also traditionally used as a tonic medicine in Japan,Korea and other countries.Due to cross breeding or natural variation of E.ulmoides,different types of variation may result in a variety of disorders,it is difficult to control the medical quality and restrict the deep utilization of E.ulmoides resources.In order to improve the comprehensive exploitation utilization,the quality of 7 varieties of E.ulmoides was evaluated based on metabolite profiles,bioactivity and HPLC fingerprint.
